| A rare work by Gesmar for the singer Doriane (Paule Dorian). Gesmar dazzles us with the opulence of her costume and the strands of pearls, intrigues us with the mystery of her dark eyes, and places her against a black background which gives her a spot lit look. Although the poster is undated, the bobbed hair, which became the rage in 1926, pinpoints it fairly accurately. Doriane was appearing that season and the next at the La Cigale, the highpoint of her career which began at La Mesange in the early 1920s. | |
