Tamagno used the likenesses of two famous stage personalities of the day: Constant Coquelin and Sarah Bernhardt, apparently enjoying a toast to a great performance. Sarah has bright orange hair and yellow jewelry; his outfit is red, white and blue. According to Conrad, the actors were not asked to give permission for the commercial use of their images and Ms. Bernhardt, incensed, went to court; as a result, the posters had to be removed from the walls of Paris. This is the larger format; the poster is unsigned. | ||
