Announcing new clothes for Spring, along with the arrival of fresh violets and mimosa from the Rivera, the work is a lively document of styles, and lifestyles, of the era. Péan was a pupil of Chéret, working under him at the Chaix printing firm and this piece definitely reflects the master's influence. he specialized in theater and cabaret posters from around 1890 to 1905. He was among the first to produce posters for the fledgling movie industry.
